The United Flyball League International (U-FLI) Scholarship Program celebrates the dedication and achievement of junior handlers who have progressed through the ranks of novice, intermediate, and advanced in U-FLI flyball. This scholarship aims to support these passionate individuals as they embark on their journey into post-secondary education in animal related fields. The program is made possible by a generous donation of $300 from the Washington Iowa Lions Club, which was matched by U-FLI, resulting in a total scholarship fund of $600 for the 2023 year.
- Applicants must have successfully progressed through the ranks of novice, intermediate, and advanced as a junior handler in U-FLI flyball
- Applicants must be entering or in a post-secondary program related to animal studies, such as veterinary science, animal behavior, animal nutrition, zoology, or a similar field.
- Applicants must submit their completed application and essay by September 30, 2023
- Interested candidates must complete the application form
- Along with the application form, applicants must submit a short essay (300-500 words) that highlights their experience as a junior handler, their growth through the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels, and their passion for animals and animal related fields
1. A selection committee comprised of U-FLI representation will review applications and essays
- One scholarship of $600 will be awarded to the chosen applicant
- The scholarship amount can be used to cover educational expenses related to the recipient’s post-secondary program, including tuition, books, supplies and living expenses
- Application Period – September 1, 2023 – September 30, 2023
- Review and Evaluation – October 1, 2023 – October 7, 2023
- Announcement of Scholarship Recipient – the scholarship recipient will be announced at the Tournament of Champions October 8, 2023
