2024 Junior Handler Scholarship Program

Program Overview: 

The United Flyball League International (U-FLI) Scholarship Program celebrates the dedication and achievement of junior handlers who have progressed through the ranks of novice, intermediate, and advanced in U-FLI flyball. This scholarship aims to support these passionate individuals as they embark on their journey into post-secondary education in any fields they choose to pursue. The program is made possible by a generous donation of the Washington Iowa Lions Club, Hawkeye Hustlers, On The Flipside, Rocket Relay and U-FLI, resulting in a total scholarship fund of $2,100 for the 2024 year.

Eligibility Criteria:
  1. Applicants must have successfully progressed through the ranks of novice, intermediate, advanced as a junior handler in U-FLI flyball.
  2. Applicants must be entering or in a post-secondary program.
  3. Applicants must submit their completed application and essay by October 5, 2024.
Application Process:
  1. Interested candidates must complete the application form.
  2. Along with the application form, applicants must submit a short essay (300-500 words) that highlights their experience as a junior handler, their growth through the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels, and how it has formed them into the person they have become. 
Selection Process:
  1. A selection committee comprised of U-FLI representation will review applications and essays.
Scholarship Benefits:
  1. Scholarships will be awarded to the chosen applicants. 
  2. The scholarship amount can be used to cover educational expenses related to the recipient’s post-secondary program, including tuition, books, supplies and living expenses.
Timeline:
  • Application Period – September 5, 2024 – October 5, 2024
  • Review and Evaluation – October 6, 2024 – October 21, 2024
  • Announcement of Scholarship Recipient – the scholarship recipient will be announced at the Tournament of Champions October 27, 2024
