What is an Anchor Tournament?
The U-FLI Anchor Tournaments are a series of designated regional events celebrating U-FLI’s 20th anniversary. These tournaments give clubs that can’t attend the Tournament of Champions a chance to compete against the fastest teams in the country throughout the year.
Anchor Tournaments have no impact on the Tournament of Championships held at Purina Farms October 23-25. Anchor events and the Tournament of Champions are two separate events.
Anchor Tournament format and structure will run the same as any other tournament, with the following differences listed below.
Eligibility
To participate in the U-FLI Anchor Tournaments, the following criteria must be met:
- Clubs, participants and dogs must be in good standing with U-FLI.
- Multiple teams from each club can enter Anchor Tournaments.
- Clubs may only enter dogs that are eligible for their Standard Team.
- All clubs that attend an Anchor Tournament will be automatically enrolled.
Format
- Points and Rules:
- Dogs will earn U-FLI points as usual.
- Standard U-FLI rules apply.
- Each Anchor Tournament will consist of either one tournament over two days or two one-day tournaments (results from both days will be combined).
- Qualification:
- Clubs must participate in at least one Anchor Tournament.
- Clubs may attend multiple anchor tournaments, to better their club time.
- Scoring:
- Teams must complete 60% of their heats to be eligible for scoring.
- After each event, the best time from each club (not team) will be recorded and placed in the appropriate division.
- Champions will be determined by the fastest time in each division listed below.
Placements and Rewards
- Placements: Will be awarded at the end of the six tournament series once all the results have been scored.
- Rewards: Each tournament will have incentives and rewards specific to their Anchor Tournament.
